On Saturday 29th April, a team of managers, chefs, bartenders and waiters from the ETM group took on the ‘Tough Mudder Half’, a five-mile challenge through mud and obstacles, to raise funds for StreetSmart.
The group, founded by brothers Ed and Tom Martin, has opened more than seventeen gastropubs across London including The Botanist in Sloane Square, The Gun in Docklands and The Cadogan Arms in Chelsea.
Commenting on their motivations to fundraise, Ed and Tom said: “We’ve supported StreetSmart for more than ten years now and we’ve raised in excess of £80,000. StreetSmart works with more than 100 organisations supporting homeless and vulnerable people and their funding has a far-reaching impact. It’s really inspiring.”
With homelessness on the rise, StreetSmart funding has never been more vital for the charities we support. The latest monitor by Crisis reported that homelessness has increased by 132% since 2010 and by 16% in the last year alone.
“If you live in London you’re confronted with homelessness on a daily basis,” the duo added. “The level of the problem here and across the rest of the country is unacceptable – we all have to pull together to enable people to take control of their lives and their circumstances.”
